Toxocara canis and cati are important zoonotic parasites of dogs cats. The increasing use medicinal plants as anti-parasitic agents attributed to its advantages like less side effects, with lower risk anthelmintic resistance, cheaper alternatives. Although there still no reports resistance in spp, the tendency it happening should always be anticipated. This review summarized vitro vivo studies anti-Toxocara activity plants, enumerate different plant extracts isolated active compounds relation their activity. In investigated were primarily done larvae, mostly second-stage while performed animals mainly assess effect on larval migratory behavior. Among all described this review, family Asteraceae was most studied for against toxocara species. promising results pyrethrin, kaurenes, palasonin, certain piperamides curcuminoids, asarone, ascaridole, quercetin, thymohydroquinone (TQ), secondary metabolites flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, glycosides. However, mechanism action each ingredient an anti-toxocara requires further research.
